Guardian Life launches innovative dental offers

New options include a deductible that decreases each year and 100% network coverage for children up to 12 years old

NEW YORK, May 10, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America (Guardian®), one of the nation’s largest life insurers and leading provider of employee benefits, today announced the launch of new modern dental benefits designed to inspire wellness, deliver value to the consumer and make dental care more accessible.

Access to good dental benefits is increasingly essential to a person’s ability to feel, think and perform at their best. But with limited benefit dollars, especially in small businesses, employers naturally want to get the most out of their investment and choose the plans that employees will want and use. That’s why Guardian conducted extensive consumer research to determine the plan’s features and benefits that will help motivate usage and make better oral health more accessible. Guardian dental plans are designed to help members improve their oral health and general well-being.

By listening carefully to consumers, planholders and brokers, Guardian has developed new dental offerings, including:

  • Features that promote good long-term oral care, with a decreasing deductible, which reduces the member on the plan each year until they are $0 after three years.
  • Early Smiles, offering 100% network coverage for preventive, basic and major care for children up to 12 years old.
  • Affordable plan options, such as 100% coverage for preventative care with a flexible allowance for additional care and access to a new local network of dentists at deep discounts to help members save in select markets. These options can help businesses that were previously unable to offer dental benefits due to cost restrictions.

Guardian members continue to have access to helpful virtual care options, including teledentistry, as well as other healthy coverages, such as additional cleaning for employees with eligible health conditions.

“Our research1 shows that nearly 8 in 10 Americans with workplace dental insurance visit the dentist one or more times a year, compared to less than half (40%) of those with no coverage,” said Chris Smith, Head of Benefits for Guardian. “Dental benefits are an effective way to inspire well-being, which is why we’re especially excited to bring new and innovative ways to make oral care more accessible and affordable for customers.”

Purcell noted that poor dental health has been attributed to a higher incidence of heart disease, dementia, diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis and pregnancy complications, while good oral care and dental health have been associated with better overall physical and mental well-being.2

Additionally, according to a recent Guardian study, 10 times as many American adults said the pandemic had made them value and appreciate their dental benefits more.3
